The Yugoslav People’s Army aggression against the Republic of Croatia in 1991

In contemporary Croatian historiography, there is a plethora of books and articles that deal with various aspects of the Croatian War of Independence (war operations, participants’ memories, war crimes, etc.), but rarely do any of these provide a comprehensive overview of the main events from the crucial year of 1991. Therefore, the fundamental purpose of this book is to give a synthesis of the main events through the prism of, on one side, the Yugoslav People’s Army (Jugoslavenska narodna armija – JNA), and on the other, the Croatian defense forces (including the Ministry of the Interior’s basic and special police forces, the National Guard, and later the Croatian Army and People’s Defense units).
